I began my art career when I was very, young scribbling my way through life. Of course, at that time, it wasn't very recognizable as art. When I began school, I improved my craft by ignoring my teachers and doodling in my notebook, textbook, or the desks; pretty much anything I could find. My brothers inspired me to continue practicing and doing artwork. I loved their work and wanted to improve myself so I could be as good as they were someday. When I went into high school I had great art teachers who inspired and pushed me to work in different mediums: from paint to sculpture. I decided I wanted to do illustration and started by creating several T-shirt designs for sports teams and posters for school musicals. After that, I went to Munson Williams in Utica NY. It was there that I found out I really wasn't a fan of modern art or “Fine Art “. This made me lean even further towards illustration. I earned my Associate’s degree from Munson Williams, then went on to study illustration at the Rochester Institute of Technology. At RIT, I was taught by several amazing illustrators who inspired me and pushed me to perfect my craft. I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree from RIT and am now working as Graphic Artist for Cornell Digital Print Services. -Michael W. Wallace |
